Zenith Radio, Model 5904 A
11/2/2010 12:33:39 PMElena
Hello.
We have a Zenith radio and we are trying to repair it.
The problem is that we have been looking for the shematics or Manuals for this model and we can't find it.
We think that it is an export model for Europe because it can be switched from 110-120 to 220-240 volts.

The chassis number is 154991, model 5904 A and should be also S-9-S?? something in between S30 and S34 may be.

Any help would be much apreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Elena.

Hi Elena,
Zenith part numbers between 1936 and 1950 had the format of number-letter-number, where the second number was 2 or 3 digits, such as 5S127.
The first number was the number of tubes in the set. Balast tubes counted. The letter described features. 'S' indicated it had short wave, 'D' meant standard broadcast ony and 'H' meant it had FM.
Look for a number of that format and you will have the schematic.
If you can't find it, we may find something from the tube line up.

Best Regards,

Bill Grimm

:Hello Bill.
:
:Many thanks for the tip, the radio has 9 lamps/tubes and it's very similar to the S-9-S30, 54 and 55, for the model 5903. It has 3 Waves.

The schematic for the 9S30 may be very similar to your radio. The difference between the 5903 and 5904 chassis may be the power transformer.

Hi Elena,
You have a really 'juicy' radio there! I suspect your model number is 9A30 or 9A54. The A signifies export. None of these are on this site, though.
It does have export model 5A119. It is likely to give you an idea what the power input circuit looks like.
