100 ma. heater string

I came across an RCA Model 1-X-1H, circuit like typical AA5 with miniature tubes, except this set uses a lineup of 100 ma. tubes. (Such as 36AM3 and 34GD5) Probably made really late in the tube era. Anybody know what years sets with 100 ma tubes were made, and how common such sets were? Also, did a set with only two multi-element tubes, circuit like AA5, ever make it into commercial production, or was it just a factory prototype? Thanks for helping me understand this segment of radio history. Ed M

Hi Ed,
I found the spec sheet on the 34GD5. Its date is there, too. http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/frank/sheets/127/3/34GD5.pdf
I wonder if the manufacture of televisions was driving the filament currnt ratings down at this time. Televisions had a lot of tubes putting out heat.
Tube radios were still being made in the late 1960's. These still had the AA5 7 pin miniature tubes.

Sir Ed. . . . .
Wouldn't you think that they just might additionally be trying a final fling at getting rid of their accumulated warehouse stock of antennas, tuning condensers, filter caps and tube related parts.
That, being just before transistors had COMPLETELY taken over, circa 1961-64.
The new tube numbers in the 100 ma series string being: 18FX6-- 18FW6-- 18FY6-- 34GD5-- 36AM3
