Fada 1000 tube line-ups. How many were there?
10/19/2010 5:06:18 PMDave Froehlich
Hello All,
The circuit is exactly the same as when it had octal tubes but the one I just restored had one 12SK7 and the rest were miniature equivalents of the octals: 35B5, 35W4, 12AT6, 12BE6 and 12BA6. Why Fada didn't change both 12SK7s to 12BA6s, doesn't make any sense. But they didn't.
How many different tube line-ups were there for the Fada 1000?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,
You see this among the smaller manufacturers. Fada must have had a bunch of old stock 12SK7 and wanted to use them up before switching production over fully to 12BA6.
Radios produced during this transition time would have the 12SK7 and 12BA6.
We do the same thing with ICs, now.

All the Best,

Bill

Have seen this too in RCA and Motorola. Two exact model number sets. One has a 12AV6 the other a 12SQ7. The RCA has one 50B5 7 pin, the rest all octal 8 pin. The manufacturer would use what they had in stock.
