6BQ7A - busted pin ques.
8/6/2001 3:33:49 AMmark french
I'm in middle of a re-resistoring my recapped CTC5 tv...pulled a 6BQ7A out of the tuner and noticed pin 9 has broken off. The tube still tests good as new on both settings of my simple tester. Looking at the schematics and the 9-AJ diagram I can't tell if I can still use this tube without a problem or must order another..can anyone verify this? thank you...Mark French

Hi,
As long as the tube does not become gassy, and as long as you remember that the tube does not index as it should; you should be able to use it.

However, the tube is fairly common still, and usually the price for a new one is still very low.

If you have a concern about it, go new (very cheap insurance/peace of mind), and use the other one while you are in the process of repairing/restoring the old set until the new one arrives.
