CAPACITOR QUESTION
9/29/2010 3:48:04 PMDave
I have a Stromberg Carlson 125 that has many capacitors that are the block-style with the color dots on them, do these typically fail? I replaced the electrolytics and the wax caps, but It must have about 10 of these in it. Any help is appreciated.

Those mica caps (look like dominos) are generally durable, but may drift in value over time. The color dots represent the value, like the color bands on a resistor.
They usually have picofarad (uuf/mmfd) values and are used in RF/IF circuits.
