Hi,
I continue working on a Meissner 9-1085 and had a guestion about a resistor. The resistor in guestion limits the current through the panel lamp. The resistor looks like a dog bone, the body is one color the end is another color and a color dot on the body, I believe these colors tell the value. My guestion: can I replace this type of resistor with the newer type carbon resistor, the resistor is a half watt?
Any ideas on this I would be very, very greatful to you. Thank you!!

Daniel, dose the lamp panel work? Before you do anything it would be best to identify the actual resistor and it's intended factory value.
WWW.justradios.com sells caps and resistors for radios. They post a good tutorial on old radio resistors including yours for types and identicication.
I think you can sub out the R.

Sir Daniel. . . . . .
Should be fine on that . . . as all of the other resistors I am seeing used on the set are being 1/2 watt units, excepting for that 2 watt being used in the power supply.
The usual color scheme on the doggie -bones was the body-----tip-----band /dot reading sequence; while the newer composition resistors are using the inline bands reading sequence, and starting over at the off set end.
And I assume that the resistor in question is that 27 ohm unit, ( color coded RED-VIOLET . . . unless overheating has skewed the VIOLET color ! )that is being used in series in the power rectifier circuitry . . . . in which case it also sort of additionally fills in as an ersatz fuse resistor, in addition to its input current surge limiting.
