GE Model 202
9/17/2010 10:02:38 PMMitch
All,
Picked up a GE mod 202, seems to work OK. Not strong as would be expected late at night as other good BCB receivers. Not alot of stations as my other radios. (two for now). I can see by solder joints that repairs have been done in the past, some caps and R's.
I am open to a full recap.
I want to give this radio to my grand daughter who is 16 for a memory of me.
What are your thoughts about a complete referb?

Generally like to troubleshoot the radio first to see why it is not working well if not at all before doing a wholesale recap. Begin by making basic voltage checks and verify the vintage repairs were done correct. Did not see a schematic here on this site other than 3 pages of "Changes" for this model. Looks like a nice table set from image search and appears to be basic AA5. Richard

I got the schematic, says it covers models 200, 202, and 203. I will proceed with a step by step repair, just received my first Voltohmyst.
I will post results.
Thanks,
Mitch
