Unknown Radio
7/27/2001 12:54:08 PMSteve Silberman

Just picked up a new radio with the following tube layout: 43 75 6A7 6D6 25Z5 KL-45 ballast.

It has a square front with some cutouts for the speaker and a square glass covered AM dial.

Anyone have an idea what I've got???

Thanks,

I looked through Mallory-Yaxley Canadian version and could not find any radios with that tube line up. The only brand I found using 6A7 and 25Z5 was Philco and probably US made as RCC did not publish schematics for them. I would suggest looking at US Philco's as a start.

Hi Steve

Noticed Ed's response. Unlike Canada that tube lineup was popular in the US. Thought we might be able to figure it out from the Ballast but your number is a replacement (universal). Is there a ballast number on the chassis.

Thanks for the input to date! I took the radio apart tonight. Found that the dial face is printed cardboard but perhaps thats standard from that era.

The tubes are all Tung-Sol brand if thats any help. Other than that I couldn't really find any identifying marks!

So, perhaps it is destined to remain an "unknown"!

I came accross a Kadette Model 151 (1938) with some of the same tubes. Perhaps they were used a lot. still searching!!!
