Bendix 110

My current project is a Bendix 110. I don't want the chassis live. Currently the neutral is switched via the radio on/off switch but transfering the hot line through the switch gives me the hot chassis problem. I am not too keen on keeping the neutral as the switched control. Any ideas please,

You're in England? I thought they used 220 at 50Hz there. If so you will need a step-down transformer, and then the chassis will no longer be live.
Otherwise, it would not matter if you changed the wiring; the chassis would still be hot with the radio either turned off or on, depending on whether the hot or neutral was connected to the power switch. You can re-wire the radio with a floating ground; it's about 16 connections that would have to be changed. You might get some additional hum if this is done though.

Here is a good service tip. This does pertain to any hot chassis radio.
