My recapped Silvertone now works GREAT on AM and on one of the two shortwave bands it has. On the second shortwave band the radio works well until it gets to the upper part of the dial ( higher in frequency ). Then the unit squeals on exactly ONE frequency and higher up in frequency it motorboats badly. The electrolytics have all been replaced with modern units.
Any ideas? Thanks ALL

The squeal, and in some cases mototboating, can sometimes be eliminated with tube shields. Do you know if this model ever had tube shields?
I had a similar case with an RCA that I resotred. It came to me in very bad shape. I restored it but it squealed and motorboated. I finally discovered that the radio originally had shields on some of the tubes. Once the shields were in place everything was fine.

More information...
This is a Sears model # 1994. The version I have has all metal tubes except for the converter (6K7 I believe).
Hope this helps.
Thanks
