Im looking at a schematic and it calls out a value of 470mmfd. is that really 470 pico farad?

A micro-microfarad (ììF) that can be found in older texts is the equivalent of a picofarad.

The answer is yes. 470mmf=470 pf.Replace it with the same type, (silver mica or ceramic type.)

Newer parts may also be labeled as 0.47nF, but uF and pF notation are most common / standard.
