PS. Same result on both BC and SW bands.
Here are some things to check on your output tube. Check voltages on pins #3 and #4 of the 50L6. Both should be positive. Pin #8 should read around 7 volts, Pin #5 zero. Be sure cap #20, .022 mfd, isn't shorted.
With power removed and your ohm meter on X1 scale check the speaker voice coil. You should hear a slight click from the meter battery.

: I am having trouble finding the problem on this one. Tubes test good, all tube voltages are sat. I have no sound, no hum, no static. Even if I touch the grid of the output tube, I hear nothing.. Speaker field coil is good. Any ideas out there? Thanks, Joe

Norm,
50L6 voltages are all in spec. I notice I can very faintly hear the strongest local am station. Do you think this may be an alignment problem? I am assuming that the faint sound from the speaker indicates the speaker coils are okay. The 12SQ7 does test weak but I have tried another with no success...I hate to give up on this one..I like the set...any other ideas?
Joe
Touch the center terminal on volume control, the one which goes to grid of 12SQ7. You should hear a loud hum. A 12SQ7 will usually work ok, even testing weak. Does pin #6 of the 12SQ7 have a positive voltage?
Your radio may need alignment but I would get the audio circuits working first. (12SQ7 & 50L6)

Try another speaker.. A speaker voice coil should just be a couple ohms. Could you be reading the output transformer? 125 ohms might be reasonable for the transformer.
Try your ohm meter across another radio speaker. This will give an idea what you can expect. Use the meter on X1 scale.

: Wow this one is puzzling. I can get no hum, nothing..even when I touch the grid of 12SQ7. I can't get anything out of the speaker. The voice coil is about 125 ohms but when I put ohmeter across it I get no click or movement..Field coil measures about 425 ohms making me think the speaker is okay but is it....could this be a bad speaker somewhere deep inside it...?
