I have a RCA 84-BT6 and I want to test it to see if it working. A friend of my has a 6 & 12 volt car battery charger. Is it safe to hook up the radio to my friend's battery charger? I am checking the under side of the chassis and I found a part about two inch long and red color with one end hook up to the osc. coil with other end not hook up to anything. From what I can tell one end was never hook up. Mark on it is: "Dry Electolytic Capactor" "525 volts surge" "4MFD" "450G W.V." The only place I think it hook up to is one of pin holded of 75 tube. Which pin holded? Your schematic has a "R9" which is a resistor(270,000 ohms, carbon type, 1/4 watt). What is it and what is the right place for it? Thank you, Bill

Battery charger would be the wrong thing to use. It is not a power supply by any means. Raw DC with no filtering at all.
