To begin restoration, I disassembled the power supply capacitor block to gather values and trace wiring. The leads were tagged with small fiber ovals stamped:
'B+ 180' (C6), 'CH' (C7), '-40' (the common lead for C6, C7 & C10 - connects to R8e), 'B-' (the common lead for C8, C9 & C10 - connects to R8c), '+B 45' (the other lead for C8 - connects to R8b, '-8' (the other lead for C9 - connects to R8d, and finally 'LS' on both leads of the speaker coupling capacitor.
The schematic in Riders 1-11 omits the connection between C10, the wipers of the hum balance pots, and the common of C8, C9 and R8c.
Have I only rediscovered a known error or a production variation?
Thanks.
Thanks for looking at this. It also seems the volume control potentiometer is missing from the schematic. Mine is wired from the grid of the first AF to ground.
These omissions have existed for a number of years and might be useful to future restorers of the Abbey. Do you know any way to add an addendum reference to the schematic here on the website? This would also be a good place to include a parts list which I'm compiling during restoration.
:Looks to me as if the draftsman made an error, and the crossover above C10 should be a connection.
