PHILCO CONSOLE RESTORATION
7/1/2010 8:01:50 PMJim
HELLO,
I am just beginning the restoration of a 1941 Philco console, model 41-295, chassis code 121. Although this site has a very good set of schematics with some voltages, I would like to get pinout resistances and voltages. Does anyone have this information or direct me to a free source. Thank you for any help.

Hi Jim

For pinout click on "tubes" above and enter numbers.

Chuck may have additional information for sale. Check his site:

Hello Jim,

You will find the actual Philco Service Bulletin for this radio--and many other Philcos--at the following website:

http://www.audiophool.cjb.net/Philco.html

One caveat is that you will have to install software capable of displaying the "DjVu" format. Links for freeware that will allow you to do this can be found on the homepage for the appended website.

Hope this helps!

Be sure to change that block capacitor #85 duel .01 It is the Universal Type 3903 .. Pin 1 is common, pins 2 and 3 the other ends of the capacitors.

Scroll half way down this page to see to Philco part.

A tube manual will be of great help for this kind of thing. An edition such as the RC-19 or earlier will have the data for most of the common older tubes. They often show up on eBay. There are also some free downloads on the web.

As for the resistance chart, you can derive this yourself by following the connections of each pin back to ground reference. Any caps in the path will have to charge before the readings will stablize. After you have tried this a time or two, you will get a feel for things being ok or not.
