Hello All. I just aquired an awesome Silvertone 6136 chassis with push/pull 6V6.My first P.P output radio other than P.P. 45 or 71. triodes. This one should be LOUD and will sound awesome on shortwave! will use a PM speaker(with resistor) and build an ART DECO ported cabinet for it.Anyways does anyone here have one of these and any info on BIAS CELL rejuvination ? On the schematic it shows how to insert phono plug into the circuit. Is this meant for a shorting type jack? Thanks for info

:I am also wondering what the 100 ohm resistors on the plates of the 6V6's are for.Are they to reduce voltage or for tone or stability??Thanks for info

Sir Chris . . . . . .

This one should be LOUD and will sound awesome on shortwave!

Wont's it sounds guds on plain ole AM's broadcasts also ?

any info on BIAS CELL rejuvination

6Q7 1st grid biasing solutions?

Decisions . . . decisions . . . decisions ?

1 . . .

A MICRO entry slit into the old cell casing with the edge "touch" of a cutting wheel in a Dremel tool followed with an insulin syringe injection of distilled water and a hot glue resealing of casing . . hoping for . . it's alive . . . IT'S ALIVE . . . IT'S ALIVE !

2 . . .

Replacement of ye olde tymes cell with modern generation button cell.

3 . . .

Replacement of cell with series coupling capacitor and use a 10 meg 1st grid resistor to ground, placed at the grid side of the coupling capacitor.

4 . . .
Stage self biasing via the use of a cathode resistor on the 'Q7.

On the schematic it shows how to insert phono plug into the circuit. Is this meant for a shorting type jack?

The phono plug switching action is merely passing the detected audio right on thru to the high side of the volume control with no plug inserted. With a plug in place, the incoming radio audio is disconnected and the phono cart input is routed to the high end of the vol-you-me control instead. The contacts on the female phone receptacle of the radio are doing the switching actions.

I am also wondering what the 100 ohm resistors on the plates of the 6V6's are for.Are they to reduce voltage or for tone or stability??

Its a HF stability /unwanted parasitic RF oscillation suppression . . . thang . . . (technique).

One more question. Can I use 2 8000 0hm single ended transformers with the primaries tied together for use as a push/pull transformer(at least temporarily)?

tied together (in series)

Yup . . . that circuitry do be very forgiving, just as long as your 50/50 odds, doesn't end up getting them cross phased.

:Thanks Edd!!This is very helpful!!Oh yes I love AM but sometimes I love listening to the weird airplane ,buzz saw pHaSe ShIfTiNg sounds and other noises on shortwave ,I am very ECCENTRIC , and also to hear the foreign broadcasts ,and CBC also has a shortwave station :
