Looking for manual or any tips on the operation of this unit

Thanks in advance

Hi,
There are a few variations between the features of the units made by various manufacturers, but as long as you have a unit that matches your set's scanning system, (ie NTSC in the US and Canada, and PAL in more than one flavor almost everywhere else) you essentially connect it to the antenna input of the set.

Select the channel that is not in use in your area (most often a choice between channel 3 and channel 4) Set the output level of the generator to the lowest level before you get noise on the screen.

From there, your basic steps are:
-adjust ion trap if equipped, and deguass the set.

-let both the set and the generator operate for about 20 minutes before you begin adjustments.
-Verify that B+ voltage at the anode is less than 25KV as described in TV cabinet.
-Adjusting purity (even white across the screen)these are the small magnetic rings that are behind the yoke towards the pin end of the tube.
-adjusting the deflection coil magnets for even coverage across the screen
-setting your color drives by shorting one gun at a time through a 10K resistor and matching certain color bars depending on which gun is shorted, how many bars your generator produces, and how the manufacturer set up the color bars. *Most often you are matching two bars on either end, or the center depending on which gun is shorted.
-Converging the guns to focus the three color beams to produce white dots in the dot pattern setting.

You usually do not get all guns converged to a point where all points are white with no color shadows (perfect convergence), but that is the goal. Usually settling on a best average compromise.

Best time to do this is at night.

Basically, the steps will always be the same within a certain degree, but how each step is achieved can vary with the set manufacturer, or the convergence equipment. Otherwise the steps in a book printed in 1956 are just as valid as one printed in 1986.
