Splitdorf Abbey Jr

Hello, I recently acquired an AC operated Splitdorf Abbey Jr radio. I located the schematic in Riders 1-11 (made by Thomas A Edison Inc). I cannot find a parts list. Some of the resistors in the power supply are open and I do not know their value. Any Help?

Resistors in question are probably R8 sections? Not called out in any schematic that I could find but you can select values by voltages required.

Make point A about 90 volts. B should be around 25 volts. C can be 8 volts. D is ground and E should be around -35 volts.

These voltages will work. Exact voltage isn't critical and will vary depending on tube emission.

Norm, Thanks for the great info. I will work on the R8 sections and get back to you.

Hi Jim,

Found a similar set at a garage sale. If you have started a parts list, could you please share it? The schematic in 1-11 has both the battery set and the Jr. Do you suspect the parts values are similar? For example, the grid resistors in the RF stages of the battery set are shown as 600 ohms - not listed for the Jr.

Could you help with the value of the volume control potentiometer in the Abbey? Mine is open and I estimate the value is about 50 ohms. It is connected between the grid of the first AF and ground, but 50 ohms seems low. Thank you.

The National Radio News, May 1929, available at www.tuberadios.com, has an article on page 17 which details a method of calculating B power divider resistances.
