BSR Record Player - Needles
3/29/2010 12:53:20 PMJoe
I have what I believe is a BSR UA-15 Record Player. What is the proper proceedure to replace the needles? It has a flip Astatic 422 cartridge with two needles - a "N8-3" (78 rpm) needle and a "N8-1" (LP) needle. Also, does anyone know where I might get a SAMS Photofact on this player?

Joe, N8-3 and N8-1 are held in place with a screw. To remove needle, unscrew the screw. Is this what you mean? Also, go to SAMS Photofact and search UA15 and you will see more than one SAMS that applies to the UA-15 series. I think most UA15 changers indicate the complete model number.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for responding. I don't see a screw that holds the needle to the cartridge as you sugguested. I'm going to try to send an image.

It looks like the needle is held behind that red plastic nub. Do you think the needle is held in by friction and will slide on and off?

Joe

Ok, the retainer. Needle comes off by pulling with finger or tool of your choice toward tone arm front. Reverse for replacement.
