I dont wanna goof this up, and, even though I have the schematic, im not good at reading them
Thanks much!,dave
You may want to check this schematic:

The cap end where part number points is positive in this schematic. Although chassis is negative electrolytics will be insulated since two negatives connect to high voltage center tap on the transformer.

::On the ol' metal can caps,..with one threaded stud on the bottom,..this is prob the + terminal of this cap ? This is on a Philco 80 Jr.

:The part that touches the chassis is the negative. There should be SOME kind of marking on the case.

This radio only has two caps on top of chassis,..and are insulated from the chassis,...although both tie to a common connection, which , i think should be the ( - ) neg. ?,
I can pick out componants in a schematic,..but when tracing connections,..i suck :-(
Thanks!,dave

Put the (-) end of the cap there.
:Neondave, the last post is correct. The can is always the negtive terminal of the electrolytic caps. Heed what Norm said, while it is the negative lead of the cap, the can is frequently isolated from the chassis ground and goes to the center tap (B-) of the HV winding of the transformer through resistor(s) as is done in your set. Yea, i just picked this up a month ago,..the guy i bought it from said when he was a trash truck driver, and an old man asked if he wanted it,..if not, in da dumpster it goes. He was told it didnt work, a bad tube. So now i got it. All the tube heaters tested good,..so i slowly powered up with a variac and a 60w light bulb. The dang thing worked !, so, i thought id at least replace the two filter caps, the cab isnt the greatist,..its all there, but the lamination plys on the curved part are all seperating,...maybe i could glue and clamp ? or just leave it be....got any spare parts for this ?? the power switch is a little a little finicky,..maybe another reason they thought tubes were bad....
