Stromberg Carlson 1101

Poor volume and selectivity to a nice Stromberg Carlson recently recovered from the loft and dusted down. HT levels are good . Any ideas?

Sir Frank. . . . . .

If the B+ level is up to normal on all screens and plates of the sets tubes . . . then . . .

To differentiate between the distinct RF front end aspect and the separate audio and power supply /
speaker portion of the set.

Why not pull out a VCR- CD or DVD player and take off from its RCA audio connector output and feed into the top of the volume control and then power up Ye olde Strombrger Carlsonator and that would then let you evaluate all of the latter 3 capabilities of the set.

That should produce a very good quality of audio along with the capability to fully drive that portion of the set.

If that composite section checks out purrrrfectly, then its on forward to RF City . . for its check out.

:I have checked the output through the set and it amplifies in proportion but the volume level is low.

Edd.

The voltages are all over the place.( Now that I have a schematic to confirm) High levels where they should not be and so on. Just to confirm. The tube bases are ALLWAYS shown as seen from the underside. This being the case then voltage readings now make no sense at all.
