I am also working on a Zenith 78/AM unit and need a cartridge.Model#:6R866Z. I have had no luck either, but I do have some info that may help us both.
The original Zenith cart #15780
The Astatic replacement is 97-2 (red & green).
The element is "coil", which I've never heard of for this old of a unit.
Let me know if you can find something & I'll share any info with you too.

Hi everyone
Just come across your qery and as our company in the UK has 50 years of knowledge of the stylus cartridge business I thought I drop you a line.
The Zenith cartridge you are looking for was also called the Cobra. Green was for LP and Red was for 78rpm. We have just sold our last supply of these cartridge/styli and they are no longer available, but you can try one of our dealers here in the UK: http://www.jukeboxservices.co.uk/

HI- I have one of those 1948 Zenith AM/Phono units too.. I bought some of those Cobra's from Ed Saunders, and you can also get them from "Victoryglass.com."
They were used in early Wurlitzer Jukeboxes. I have a model 1250 Wurlitzer (1950)that uses 2 of those carts. It has 2 tone arms to play both sides of the record. I also have a model 2150(1957) that uses the cobra setup. I think they cost around $25.00 or so.They were used up into the early 60's.
hope this helps,Dennis.
