I know this is a STRETCH, But does ANYONE have a Schematic for a 3 tube AM Broadcaster?, 2-50C5s and a 12XT7 Preamp. I built this kit as a youngster, (It's OLD). Needs repair. (Like me), Thanks Drew

Look for "bcamp" in the Lafayette section on the BAMA mirror site: http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/lafayett/

I built up one using a universal oscillator coil from AES.

Sir Drew. . . . . .

That unit should be QUITE an operator, that is strong enough to even to give you a little RF burn if touching
the output circuitry . . . a h h h h . . . the smell of burning flesh in the morning.

None of those typical, puny little penny-whistles that are otherwise seen.

(I used to always build up mine up using a pair of 6AQ5's, and even had one in my car to send out fake

RADIO stations broadcasts at Drive In Eaterie Hangouts from my reel to reel tape recorder.)

[ . . . " SAY FELLER ! don't be a fart smeller be a smart feller . . . . use TRIG . . . the modern, new roll on

deodorant. Buy, and use it today ! ] . . .comments . . . what did he just say ? . . . naw, he couldn't have said that ?

Now, I would think that all that you would need to do is replace that filter capacitor trio which I have marked up

in the [ RED ] rectangle area, along with checking the output voltage from that selenium rectum-fire. As is

being shown in the [ ORANGE ] rectangle mark-up.

Additonally, some of your paper capacitors might be leaky.

Every thing else in the way of additional info should be shown in the links info supplied below:

I had one of those as a kid, in the '50s. I ran an (unlicensed) radio station from my bedroom. It covered blocks.

I know this story has become almost anecdotal, but I really did hook the output of this transmitter up to a 20 watt Wurlitzer jukebox amplifier. I used the matching coupler for my Ham shortwave "long wire" antenna, (about 100') and a copper pipe ground. I lived in Middletown, Ky. and we were clearly heard at night in Jeffersontown and Anchorage, about 5 to 8 miles in opposite directions. A parent finally shut us down when he heard us broadcasting phone calls. My dad had a Wilcox-Gay Recordio console. It gave me a phonograph and microphone, with one of those "phono out" jacks on the back.
We were lucky we didn't burn the house down.
However, I went on to spend most of my life as a radio personality.

A radio nut in my neighborhood and I made friends with the CE of a local television station, the transmitter of which used a matched pair of, I think, 4X250s. Since they were a matched pair, when one failed, they had no use for the other, and saved them for us. We scrounged a bunch of old TV power transformers, built four 500 Volt Power supplies, hooked them in series, and made a Tesla coil, of about 1kW input. We got the idea of hooking this coil to a long wire antenna, tuned it to the broadcast band, and tried to find out how far it would transmit. After several miles of reception on a car radio, we decided that doing something more legal just might be a better idea, SO OUR Kw radio station went off the air forever. Does the FCC put teenagers in Federal prison?

Oh!! And true! I will swear on my children:
My mother one afternoon, after high school, asks me (not knowing a Tesla coil from a Thunderbird) "What are you and Roger going to do this afternoon?"
And I reply: "We are going to play with our Tesla coil"
She thought I said "Testicles". I think you could have heard her "You are going to do what on the moon.

:I have the assembly / instruction manual that came with the kit. I will give it to you, if you want it. I will contact you by e-mail once I locate the manual.
:
:As a kid, I did not have $ for the kit, but Allied sold the assembly manual separately. I then built my own transmitter, playing with the coil on a toilet paper tube until I got it in the middle of the AM band. I took a similar unit to college, where I would break into someone listening to the radio with a stronger signal, disguise my voice, say, "Turn the radio down"
:Ed M, Thanks for the offer. I bought manual and schematics. Anyone need, Let me know. Drew
