Does anyone in radio world have parts for a General Electric Model #810 television? After doing a complete recap and getting a great picture the whole thing went south.I have traced the problem to the yoke as the windings are breaking down at about 80% on the Variac.I am in need of the yoke assembly or even a complete parts set if the price is right,Thanks

I saw it this past week when I picked up a couple of old sets, and it was in rough shape, but still complete. You would need to drive to Maryland for the pickup, though.

Sir Todd . . . . . .

Since the unit was working initially and apparently has not broken down enough to result in a keystoning of the raster, try this.
The fault is typicaly an arcover between the vert and hoz windings.

See if you can pull the yoke for a VEWY-VEWY carefull inspection of the visible windings under a bright light and MAGNIFIER, to see if any bare copper or blackening of an arcover is showing.

Then use an old analog VOM connected between the vert and hoz windings to see if any pressure around all of the areas of the yoke will show a resistance presence
showing up . That would pinpoint a particular area. When I have found that touchy area I see if I can pinpoint the windings involved, and separate them apart a bit . . . then I spray the area with Krylon Crystal Clear and place in the oven for a cool down cycle from initially having been at ~ 250 degrees of initial warm up, then turned off.

Soak the windings several times and you might have lucked out with your lacquer flowing in and having reinsulated the problem area(s).

I have one of these tv's and I bought it restored (unknowingly) and the seller said that it worked a few days before. When I got it it didn't work (which greatly brought down the price :) I destroyed many fuses, and a few 5u4's before I found a short in the yoke. I carefully removed it from its mount and unsoldered the wires. I looked at it closely under a bright light. I noticed something that looked like a piece of hair. I brushed it off , and remeasured the yoke ... the short was gone. It may just be that simple for you too, hope you get it going again,
Ian

Hi Edd,Ian and all....After finding the problem to be the yoke assembly I used a CRT substitute and took the yoke completely out of the system and had a perfect picture. With that being said I didn't try to repair the yoke(I wasn't sure it could be done)I will take your suggestions and make it a six-pack and solitude endeavor for this evening. If there is a yoke available I would still like to have one to be on the safe side. Thanks again to all and I will keep you posted
