Thanks
RCA 26X4 is an AC/DC radio. All tube filaments are wired in series. If one burns out nothing lights.

With an ohm meter check continuity of tube filaments. Pins #2 and #7 are filament on all tubes except 12SQ7. On that tube it's pin 7 and 8. Pins 2 and 7 are second pins each side of the keyway.
There may still be other things wrong if filter caps haven't recently been replaced. Replacement parts are not expensive.

:Hello. I recently have purcahsed a 1941 RCA 26X4. I cleaned the cabinet up and cleaned the dust and dirt out of the interrior. Today I plugged it in and got no sound or even a hum from the transformer. I thought it could be a bad cord or tube but I would think that it would at least make noise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This will not stop tubes from lighting. Only an open tube filament (very common) bad switch or line cord will stop them from lighting.

:Thanks Norm. I will try that. I also was looking under the chassis and found a large electrolytic with two wires on one end that were cut and no loose wires were around or near it. That could be the problem. I will try checking the tubes.

That is exactly what it is. there is a red and a green and a black wire and they have all been snipped. it looked like there were some other things replaced but they were not much newer than the 60's because they are wax covered.
Thanks

I think I found The problem. The tube 35L6gt is fried. it is a zeinith tube that looks like one that would go in a atwater kent radio. I will try to get andother tube or cross refrence one that i may have in one of my other radios.
