Finally saw a picture of my radio at: http://www.radioera.com/soldwood.htm Its labled as a 1948 Admiral console. I have found the cancelled check when my dad purchased it dated 12/7/46 for the amount of $254.95 . That was quite a bit of money back then. What else can I find out about this radio? I have a serial number. I know for some collectables there are books that tell what serial number range was made in a given year. Can anyone reccomend a book that might give me more info? Such as years made and number made? I don't mind buying a book if I know it has something of interest about this model radio. Thanks, Rich

Add me to the list of people with this wonderful radio. I will be having the tuning dial fixed and buying a needle for the phono. I'll keep checking here for info on the Admiral console.

I just found this great old beast at a flea market and snagged it for a song. It even still works. It is a 1946 radio. My still had a lable on it the the retailer was supposed to remove. It stated that the cieling price was $235.35 so your dads check seems to be abut right. Since i have only had it a few days i really dont have any more info but would love some if anybody has it
