Dial String
2/8/2010 6:51:20 AMJohn
I need to string my Philco 42-395 as there is no string on it. I have a dial string diagram but the text is so blurred that I can't read what it says near the tuning shaft. Can anyone tell what it says in the notes about the tuning shaft?

John,
Looks like it says 2 turns drive cord around tuning shaft.

I concur with Carl's post after actually LOOKING at the diagram. I certainly looks like it says (although
not clearly) Two turns of Drive Cord around Tuning shaft.

Submitted herewith. . a "string by number" chart of that units restring info:

(Resplednently complete with its "nervous" vertical spring . . IF you happen to be viewing on an older CRT monitor and being at a PROPER refresh rate / interlacing . . . or a harmoniic thereof.)

That spring looks pretty steady on MY monitor.......a lot steadier than that wiggly squiggle under your signature !

Sir . . . . . .

Wasn't exactly sure in the potential situation of being inclusive to ALL monitors.

That is just what was noticed on my CRT based monitor, with that "quivering" spring from the moiré pattern being displayed.

Yep. This site seems to support _some_ javascript and basic HTML, which might come in handy should I want to share data or pictures of my work.
