Bendix 646 A
12/14/2009 12:14:00 PMRick Churray
I have a Bendix 646. This radio is a drop leaf table. The front looks like it has two wooden drawers with knobs. One drawer is really glass and when turned on, the dial lights up and shines through the top "drawer. The top drawer on mine has had the wood tone and dial either scrapped off or it dryed up and crumbled off. Does anyone know of a way to repair this? I have posted a picture here: http://phonoold1.tripod.com/my_old_phonograph.htm
Thanks! Merry Christmas to all!
Rick

Hi Rick,
Only saw one photo and the Bendix just looks like a nice piece of furnature. I couldn't see your problem.

By the way, backs are available for your Zenith 6D512.

Best Regards and Merry Christmas,

Bill,
The picture posted is of what it should look like. On mine you can see right through the glass.

Hi Rick,
There are places that are into reproducing parts. If you follow this link, http://www.antiqueradioknobs.com/index.html you will find someone who reproduces vintage knobs. I think he does dial glass, too, but for Philcos.
He may have something that will work or may know of a source.

These trim parts are typically the most problematic. Give me 5 dead 1L6's to lost trim parts any day.

Best Regards,
