The Sams folder (set 485-16) for this radio covers one that is externally similar, the Model 222 (528.53680), but is different internally than the Model 1220 (528.53931)that I am working on.
I believe that the germanium transistors have failed due to a battery reversal accident and they read different than I'm used to with silicon transistors. The RF/IF transistors have a 4th pin for a grounded shield. The transistor complement is: T36, T37, T38, 3-T45's, T47 and T48.
I have tried to locate replacements for the special RF/IF transistors to no avail. I don't wish to purchase generic unshielded germanium transistors at $7-$10 a pop unless I can be sure that they'll work. Anyone have info on obsolete transistor info and/or sources? Or correct service info on the Silvertone 1220? Thank You.

Germanium transistors do read different than silicon ones do. they appear to be leaky on an ohm meter. As long as they are not open or shorted, they are probably okay.
