2100-2800 KC: Are these still in use?

A quick question. Are the 2100-2800KC bands still used for marine radio traffic. I have an old Radiomarine ET-8044 which is supposed to receive various channels on the above (e.g. 2638KC, which is/was used for Great Lakes marine radio transmissions); it only seems to receive static, so if it's not my antenna or the receiver's osc/antenna trimmers--i.e. if there's nothing on the band in 2009--then I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I know that there is a VHF marine/weather band up around 155-162MC, but I was just wondering.

Cheers,

Leslie

Leslie: Here's a link to a frequency allocation chart that still shows some marine channels in that range: http://www.ntia.doc.gov/osmhome/allochrt.pdf
Don't know if they're used much anymore. For that matter most ship board radio operators have been replaced by automated satellite gear.
