Receiver Design Books

I have been having lots of fun making tube radios. I need more knowledge to get past regens and crystal controlled converters. I would eventually like to make a good communications receiver. Something like what is found on the HBR receiver site. I am looking for a book or books on receiver construction with tubes. I have bunches of tube manuals and Amatuers' manuals, and a couple of Girardi's books. I want something more to the point. Any suggestions??

The Technique Of Radio Design, by E.E. Zepler, 1943/44 or Radio Receiver Design by K.R. Sturley, 2 vols., 1947. These are both British. For something newer, there have been magazine articles in the ham magazines and I believe that Ulrich Rohde wrote a book covering communications receivers but I have not seen it, and it might have been a magazine story I'm thinking of.

Hi,
Since you are looking at communications type recievers, you will find many tube type recievers for those bands in any of the ARRL Handbooks up to 1979- The last year they published any tube circuits.

These turn up on Ebay, and often at garage and estate sales.

The problem may be in locating some of the parts, most are just not being made anymore.
