Smoking RCA Victrola X624 Schematic??

The component that is burning is leaking a light waxy type material, the component is shiny black with stripes, Yellow Violet Orange Grey and a space then Yellow? It is placed between pins 4 and 7 on a 35W4 Half wave rectifier..also atatched to one side of it is a 33ohm 3 watt resistor slightly burned but still measures 37 ohms. I had replaced a component earlier today a 220 ohm resistor wasn't sure originally if it was a 220 ohm or a 22 ohm as it was burned as well, looked to be 3 watt. It wasn't attached to the rect but was attached to the + of the 80uF filter cap but was so burned I couldn't be sure of the 3rd color black or brown...Anyway I replaced it and it worked for about 15 minutes then I heard a hum that slowly got louder and then smoke came out of the cabinet and it looks to be the component I described earlier.. All tubes tested good but I wonder if the 35W4 is sound under full voltage? Anyway anyone with a schem or any help greatly appreciated.. Thanx Brian

That black thing is a paper capacitor. .047 at 400vdc. Replace it! The 35W4 should be OK.

: This type of capacitor is known as a "black beauty" and is as troublesome as the common wax covered paper capacitor. As mentioned by Denis, replace it! (and any other black beauties or paper caps in the set). It is apparently shorted out, causing heavy current through one or more of the resistors you mentioned.
