How can you tell voltage of electrolytic which is totally shot??

In fixing a radio I came across an electolytic (multiple unit) which was so badly corroded that I couldn't read the mfd or voltages. I didn't have a schematic either so I removed the cap, plugged the radio in, and took a voltage reading which was about 45v on both legs. I replaced the cap with two 160v electrolytics, one being 33mfd and the other was 47mfd. The radio works. Did I do correctly or just get lucky?

Hi Vic

If you radio is an AC/DC set, without power transformer, you have selected the proper voltage caps.
