Looking for someone who knows Raytheon & Collins consoles
4/5/2001 1:52:47 AMBrad Harris
We had an Raytheon Studio Console at our station in Kentucky from 1947 until 1957. Unfortunately it was given away to a Broadcasting School in Chicago. I'm looking for someone that knows vintage radio equipment so I will know what I am looking for. I have many photos of the console. We also have a Collins 212E console. I would like to track down any schematics or information on both the Raytheon and Collins consoles. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

As a rule, the station keeps the owner's manual on their equipment in their library. Obviously, your station didn't. I have a RCA 76B2 console that I bought years ago, and very fortunately, a Xerox copy of the book was with the board when I bought it. The power transformer was cremated, and I was able to find that a DuMont TV power transformer filled the bill exactly.
I have seen brosdcast boards for sale at the Rochester AWA meets, and one was at the Elgin meet in August. I doubt that there ever was any documentation with these units, though. You might try advertising for the specific book you need when you get the equipment. Someone may have it.
