I have a Grunow teledial. It is in good shape. I have two questions. I was told that Shirley Temple advertised this radio. where can I find an ad showing Shirley Temple with my radio? A reproduction would be fine. Also, my reception isn't very good in the house, and we no longer have an antenna. There used to be these clever antenna that you plug into the wall socket. Are they still available?

Don't know about Shirley Temple. But I do remember those pull in the wall antennas. Ads for those used to be like Popular Mechanics. Those were just a little mica capacitor connected to one side of the twin lead wire. Never did work very good at all.
One thing you can do though, it to use your land wire phone cord. Make it into a loop, then wrap another wire around that. Leave one end open, the other connected to the antenna input of your radio. This makes a lose coupling antenna. Works good without static, even can pick up shortwave reception.

They also accentuate static and 60 Hz rf "noise" produced by electrical devices / appliances in your house. Using one in a house with any dimmer switches would likely be impossible.....

Scroll down the index for this month to the heading"A Stoll Down Memory Lane". It will give you a link to a website for a radio museum. In that site it will show a Grunow Teledial with the Shirley Temple ad. I have seen the ad before, if you want one try locating some of the major magazines(Life, Sat.Evening Post etc) from that year at antique shows, malls etc. You should be able to find the ad.As for the recetion, just attach about 25-30 feet of wire to the radio.
Hope this helps.
Jon.
