Antenna Loop Repairs?
9/28/2009 2:17:14 PMKirk
I have a Philco table model with a built-in loop antenna that goes around the inside of the plastic cabinet. It came out okay but it reads open. I do see a spot where a wire or two may be broken. How do I clean off all the stuff that is on the wires so I can attempt to repair them?

I believe you are referring to the enamel coating on the wires. Lift carefully the broken wires, scrape both ends clean. Solder in a short piece of bare wire. Hold it with tweezers. Apply clear nail polish over the repair. Make it a neat as possible.

:Whatever the coating is it's very brittle. Made it hard to isolate the one broken wire but the repair went just fine and it works.

Thanks Warren
