It seems there are some misconceptions about Nostalgia Air and the forum.

First and foremost, Nostlagia Air will NEVER send a message using any method other than e-mail. Secondly all Nostalgia Air E-Mail will be from a Nostalgia Air address, and will originate from one of the mail servers Nostalgia Air uses.

Nostalgia Air is not an institution nor a business nor any other entity, it is simply a web site.

There is no obligation to provide the forum.

There seems to be a misconception that First Amendment rights appy to Nostalgia Air. The First Amendment only applies to government censorship, not to private forums.

No potentially identifiable information will be provided to anyone for any reason beyond the partial ip address shown on the posts. Excluding of course authorities in criminal matters.

There seems to be a misconception that I can "Identify" an individual by an IP Address. This simply is not true. Unlike CSI we live in the real world. The IP Address can provide the company that provides the Internet Connection. That company, given legal grounds, might be able to provide who was using that connection, but it is not an exact science and certainly does not easily provide who is doing what. There are countless ways to obscure or mask your IP Address. Some have the ability to masquerade as other IP Addresses. There is no sure fire way to go from an IP Address to an individual, and certainly there is no easy way to try to.

It is nearly impossible to block someone from posting, whether the site be an open site or a closed (membership) site.

No one can remove posts except for me, period. Having said that, it should be noted that the forums can glitch (it isn't perfect) and posts can get lost. I do not have the time to track these posts down and restore them.

I do not read every post on the site, I do not have time. When a complaint is received I either remove the offending message, or if the thread has too many individual messages to remove I remove the entire thread. Consequently there may be times where posts that some deem objectionable remain because no one has notified me of them, or posts with good content get removed because of significant unacceptable content being placed in the thread.

As to sales... This seems to be a sticky point for many people.

I don't mind the occassional post if you have something of value that someone might find useful restoring a radio. Flooding the site with posts of for sale items is inappropriate. Posting links to your auctions, or to friends auctions is not acceptable. Telling someone where they can find a part is acceptable, or even telling them you have the part for sale is acceptable.

Posts that contain no links or mention of an item for sale do not violate the policy; unless an ad for the item on another site references the post on Nostalgia Air.

------------------

The bottom line: Those bickering stop it, or the forums will be shut down by the end of this month. I have had enough. I am receiving countless emails begging me to block posts, remove posts, etc. I simply can't stop people from posting short of taking the forum down. With that having been said, please stop the bickering or it will be taken down, permanently.

Peter's an attention whore who just can't get enough. C. Berg is trying to play the role of forum cop. The result is the forum is like college frat house. If some moderator would simply delete posts from either of them for a month or so it would all quiet down.

Please don't shut down the forum. It has helped me with some real nightmare radios I have come across that otherwise would have eventually been trash. My own and yes other peoples. This is a good thing that has really promoted the hobby and has saved a truckload of sets from the garbage dump. I haven't asked for help in several months(I like to think because I am getting better at this but prob. not) and just got caught up with this craziness. It looks like to me some people are arguing on purpose to promote each other. A poor kind of con or scheme it seems to people to pay attention to them and there wares. Impossible to block these people I know but we should just ignore them and NOT let it ruin this highly valuable resource. Don't let a few bad apples ruin the whole orchard. I for one won't buy or seek help from them.
As for the people ruining or 'gorilla marketing' this site please stop it. Like I say to pushy street venders, back off I will not buy from you. Go away you ruin the landscape.
If you can't play nice, seriously, go away. Your not getting my money. Your actually wasting both of our time.
Please don't close the forum. It works.

:Hi Joe,
I agree with you 100% !!! You mirror my sentiments exactly. This forum has been the greatest thing for me! I love fixing the old radios, but am not educated in the theory or the high mathamatics it takes to make these things work. But, I love saving them from the land fills! I ams Richard to please reconsider shutting this forum down! I know he has justifiable cause. This forum has been a place to meet some very nice helpful people that have become like old friends! I will have nothing to do with these problem people! They do not care for the rest of us. They are self centered and greedy! There must be another way to fix this? If I can help,I will!!

Photos don't kill forums, self-centered boors do. At this point the only problem is that although Richard has ruled on the complaint about Peter's posts, some crude, abusive posters refuse to accept the ruling. Conceding editorial power to these usurpers via self censorship would leave a bad taste in my mouth besides making the forum less useful. Punishing the rule followers to appease the scofflaws does not lead to a more civil future.

:Noticed there has some editorial input in deleting some of the posts in this original thread. Seems kind of a shame that the opinion of few of the members some of who have been around since the beginning and have donated material to this Forum would indicate that their opinion doesn't count.

In the same vein the ramblings of a few are allowed to remain. I guess I just don't get it.

At least they stood up for what they thought was correct and left a valid email. I can't see how you can just brush that off like it wasn't important. Clearly your sending out a message and maybe it's the wrong one. But it is your Forum and its your right to deal with what's left of it.

Have to agree with K J on this one. Two of my posts were deleted, although I gave a real name and email address. I stated my opinion of the situation here in a valid manner in support of this forum and my posts were deleted. I guess this forum doesn't want or need my support.
