Speaker plug on unidentified set ...five pin?
9/3/2009 11:12:39 PMDon
I was thinking maybe these pics might help explain my mystery set a little better.. Thank you everyone for your help and input! still no real answer yet.. and I have looked at hundred or so schematics..have some close guesses...

Don, if that's electro-magnetic speaker you would need five: 1.Gnd 2. 2 wires field coil 3. 1 output Xfmr and 4. 1 spkr coil. How many wires are attached to the plug? PL

why - you might have a piece of grill cloth or soldering iron tip that might fit that radio? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO as if you can identify the radio or offer help. you cant even determine capacitor values in a block assembly without pathetically asking for help over and over and over.

Don, did my explaination re wiring make sense. Some times we forget that the spker needs two leads just for the coil. PL

Sir DON . . . . .

The only observations that I can make is that no one is going to put that plug in an AC outlet.

Chassis 5 pin jack . . .With three degrees of digital enhancement I can then clearly make out SPEAKER and upside down SPEAKER.

BTW . . .I just LUV's those 'lebenteen carrots gold plated knob-ses.

The next best option on further photos should be of a close up of the inside of the chassis at that plug and the wires routes outwardly from it.

A top of the chassis photo, to identify the position of the audio output transformer.

Unless you have them waaaaaay back on another post, we don't know the tube lineup also.

Had a radio with a plug that was exactly like it.....Gamble-Skogmo 20-C-8 (the radio used the name Matheson-Bell, however)chassis was Gamble-Skogmo (circa 1932..33). The radio had very fancy decorative wood trims but not the knob shown. It might be a place to start looking. See this site for Gamble-Skogmo.

Sir Edd,
I will go back and find post from last month with the pics. I need help identifying set to come up with values. or ways to come up with values. This is all new to me but I like a mind challenge so tube radios have becom a hobby for me as of late. I am 33 and remember tube sets from my childhood.(we were kida poor and people would give us old stuff) used to stare at the tubes in the sets all aglow.
I just recapped an old emerson fl 414 in white..missing dial lens cover and dial cord, has some cracking so she isn't much to look at but i cleaned her up and listen to big band on her at night. been buying radios here and there as i find them at junk stores. saving a little piece of history one set a time.
thank you for your time!:

Brunswick had fancy looking knobs like that, even the vertical dials. Here is one just for example. Scroll down to see it.
