Have an opportunity to get this odd looking set. I have never heard of this make, or seen anything like this. It is said to have something to do with Navy? Anyone have any information about it?

No schematic but found a nice pic. Looks like you got a beauty. If it is like the one in the pic your schematic may be included.

That's the one alright. Can't resist that one. I made an offer for $100. Seller says " Okay " I just have to go get it.

Brought home the Thorola today. The thing about "Navy" is on the paper label instructions inside. Small lettering just to the left of MODEL 57 its says " manufactured under license granted by the U.S. Navy Dept." The battery cable is in good condition, has even little metal tabs on each wire, saying A+ A- and so on.
Odd volume control, two wire connections, front and rear. Can turn more than a dozen times. Feels like a squash capacitor? Still would like any schematic, if anyone knows of any.

The Reichman company built telephone equipment in the early 1920's for the US Navy. The Thorophone was a horn type loudspeaker they produced around that time. The Thorola with Islodyne power supply sold in 1925 for a whopping $85. You got a good deal. The company declared bankruptcy in 1927.

I found one quite like this in my attic. It is in mint condition, but I do not know if it works. It appears to be a portable radio since there are places to put odd sized batteries, Some with 1/2 voltages. there is also a large, very old speaker which might go with it. I also found a picture of an original ad for it on the internet once.::Have an opportunity to get this odd looking set. I have never heard of this make, or seen anything like this.
