Is it ok to replace a copper sulfide rectifier with a silicone diode???I have a GTC porta-power battery eliminator Model "J"that used the copper sulfide rect for the A+ filament suppy...It is only putting out .52 volts...Thanks in advance....

:
Silicon is more conductive than copper oxide or any other copper rectifiers of yesterday, so your Voltage may be higher than expected, otherwise no problem.

Since your copper rectifier has gone sour, it's time to replace it anyway. If you use a diode the voltage output is going to be higher. Put a dummy load on the A+ supply, read what the voltage is now. Use a resistor in series with the diode to cut it down to the proper voltage output for filament supply.
