Anyone have a source for old speaker connectors
8/17/2009 7:01:29 PMBruce Walters
I just bought an Atwater Kent Model 70 that needs some cleaning and cabinet work, but it will be a beauty when finished. But, the speaker socket/connector/plug whatever you want to call it (male side) is smashed beyond repair. I could make a new on if I could find the pins somewhere or I would most certainly buy one if someone knows of a source. Has anyone been able to find a good solution to this, I know I can hardwire it, but I would love to keep it looking stock if I can.

Try the site " Play Things Of The Past " There are a lot of junked out radio parts there.

I think there may be 5 pin sockets and tube bases available out there somewhere too.

Bruce,
Under such circumstances, I make my own with copper tubing (pins) if a near equiv is desired. A wood dowel of appropriate diameter, with accurate pin spacings can be the connector body.

:I think I will take Peters suggestion and just trade out the socket for a tube socket with a minimum of 5 pins, then sacrifice a tube for the cause and use the tube base. Of course I cleaned out the garage two weeks ago and tossed a significant number of bad tubes that would have been a great source, but thats to be expected.

Bruce: I have the same situation with my Stewart Warner. The speaker plug is smashed and I have to insert the pins one by one. Haven't been able to find a source for replacement. It has four pins, two are larger diameter than the others. Mark from Kalamazoo
