Hallicrafters SX-62 schematic needed
8/14/2009 11:09:55 PMJeremy
In need of a leggible SX-62A schmatic. I have no sound from any band, I do have sound when touching the grid pin of the 6S?7 next to the out-put tubes, and also by touching a terminal on the volume pot. The antenna connections look as if they may have been shorted at some point, i see black marks on the phenolic, and the metal terminals themselves look pitted. Any ways, any body have a good schematic?

Thanks
Jeremy

The SX-62 is covered in Sams Photofact 61-12; the 62A is not covered in this manual and I understand they have substantial differences.

The BAMA site offers a comprehensive and complete owner's manual for the SX-62A. Nice radio!

The print download for an SX-62 is pretty good from this site. It should be enough information to start trouble shooting it. You said the antenna terminals look like they have been shorted. That could have been to a lightning strike, or someone did something wrong at one time. Check the band selector switch for any burnt contacts. then check the front end coils for continuity. If that all checks good, use a signal generator to back track to the problem area. That radio is a hot rod for sure, even has 10 watts of output power. Hope you get it going again. I'm sure you will be impressed with it's performance.
