Questions on an Airline 62-317 AM/SW radio
3/12/2001 6:29:28 PMTony V.
Hello,
I just bought an Airline 62-317 AM/SW radio and was wondering if any of the collectors out there might have a picture of one that you could email me. The problem i have is that its missing its dial glass and the escutcheon that holds it and also its two dial pointers. It has its original dial and knobs. The dial face is of the oval type with four wooden knobs below it and the tuning eye to the upper right of it. On the dial itself, its black with a back lit blue curved stripe for broadcast, a green curved stripe for middle wave and a reddish orange curved stripe for SW. It has the tiny index pointer in the center of these stripes and the three back lit openings on the center bottom of the dial telling you what band its on. The radio plays great and I need some sort of reference to finish cosmetic restoration. Also, does anyone know what eye tube this one takes? Mine is weak and theres no tube location in the back. The number has been rubbed off the tube. I can make out the 6 and 5 but need the center letter. This has the shoulder style tube. I thank you in advance for any pictures or imfo you can give me on this.
Thanks,
Tony

Hi Tony

The schematic, available here on nostalgiaair, shows the eye tube to be 6G5. It's interchangeable with 6U5.

Someone else may have a picture.

Thanks Norm,
I looked on the Nostalgia Air schematic's but for some reason the scans dont show up clearly, even when i download them and bring them back up. They come out smeared on the small lettering. Thanks for the tube identification, its well appreciated! I ronically, just after i posted this question, an identical one came up for bids on Ebay with good photo's so know i have cosmetic references too.
Take care,
Tony
