Silvertone 2015

I picked up a Silvertone model 2015 Chassis 132-021. I cannot find a schematic for it. I have come across a place where I can buy a copy of Sams Photofacts # 326-13 for $7.99 and another $14.00 for S&H. I thought maybe someone out here might have a copy of the schematic. Thanks Rick

Rick, before you buy or someone sends you a free one...

If your chassis is 132-021 you need SAMS 196-15, dated 1953.

Sears used model numbers over again. FYI Model 2015 covered by SAMS 326-13 is chassis 132-50500, dated 1956.

Sir Rick . . . .

Herewith the schematic info for same. . . Ye olden Silvertones 2015 /Brown, 2014 /Green or 2016 /Ivory. . . is placed bee-low:

Had one in white waaay back , and was above bed's headboard, lulled off to sleep many times, while listening to very, very many weak and d i i i i i stant stations with that sets pulling power with its frontal RF amp tube / its 3 sectiion tuning condenser / and tuned plate transformer of the RF stage, vice using a mere untuned plate load resistor/capacitor for interstage coupling.

It went up in smoke !, during my Laos and VN stints, as one farm barn used for storage was torched by a wheatfield fire.

I now have a replacement and and am just now pulling the tuning condenser out of the ultrasonic cleaner, and replacing its old rock hard suspension grommets.

The only other things less than desirable are its heavy and sagging "upholstery" quality grille cloth and the frontal knobs have the lacquer sealer coating delaminating at the edges of the concave domed brass knob inserts . That resulted in ugly discolored blackened stains on the brass edges.

Knowing that any attempt in trying to get the insert out from the front will result in scribe or Exacto blade impressions / scratches on the knobs plastic or the brass.

I think that I will try using an ~3/16in drill and pass thru the hollow splined knob and drill out back behind the knob(s) insert as far as is possible and then flush grind off another like sized bit . . .making in the order of a flush milling type of bit. Then going in as deep as that will permit . THEN hopefully the placement of a wood dowel in the cavity and a smart maul rap will pop out the domed insert. . . damage free. Then a cleaning and polishing and a coat of Crystal Clear and a disc reinsertion. But, assuredly, also having to polish away the lettered labeling on the knob insert.. . .but I know my vol-you-me knob versus my tune-i-catoring knob!

Let me know if you have any technical problems working on your unit . . . .

EDD,
Thanks a million! The image is great too! Sounds like you really enjoy your 2016. I enjoyed your write up too. If I have any questions I will give drop you a line. I spent my time in Thailand. Loading up the planes and watching them come back empty.

Thanks Again!
Rick
