It time to just strip and refinish? Any pointers.. ?

You could refinish it with a high gloss finish. It would look as new again. As it is now it is getting dry, that's why you see cracks in the finish. IF it's not too bad as it is, you could just give it a wax and polish. I don't think you should use any oils on it, as that will make the wood swell an make it worse.
