Just picked up this model this past weekend. It has AM, FM, SW, etc. FM does not come in at all, any ideas? AM works just fine. Also, the phonograph arm moves very hard. Any easy way to take the phonograph out and check the solenoids, etc. underneath? How easy is it to replace power cord, this one is getting brittle.

Hi

Try another 7F8 tube. It's the oscillator and stops operating on FM, higher frequencies, first.

If they haven't been already capacitors should be replaced in a radio this old.

Cleaning up dried grease in the phonograph should get it operating again.

Power cord replacement is easy. Buy an extension cord and cut off one end. Use that as it will already have a built in plig.

Thanks Norm, I will try the items you described. How hard is it to get the radio out of the cabinet? Seems like there is a large number of braces, etc. I need to take out to get to the workings of the radio. Same thing with the phonograph. Any tips for this?
