7/16/2009 5:30:38 AMLBASSON
I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO REPAIR OLD SPEAKER>>>> OR MAKE OLD SPEAKER PAPER CONE ????
ALSO I NEED TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF BATTERY TO BUY MY MARCONI????? MODEL 45.
7/16/2009 9:20:18 AMCan you read?
Are you illiterate? You posted the same question about the battery last month and you were offered a wealth of information from several people. To recap - THE BATTERY YOU NEED ISN'T MADE ANYMORE - get over it and re-read the suggestions that were made last month - otherwise can it. Also don't chime in knocking anyone else's posts when yours are just plain ignorant. Perhaps you'd do better finding another hobby - like learning English & proper grammar....

Please be civil on this cite. The response to Labassons's question was not civil.
Foreign visitors to this site with limited english capabilities should be accomodated.

Best Regards,

Bill

7/16/2009 10:55:27 AMWell, Bill....
L.Basson(AKA "Lisa")is not necessarily a foreigner - but IS obviously a rank newbie. What IS NOT civil is a green newbie chiming in on harassing posts about Peter - a respected, long-term contributor...... Like it or not, we don't need that kind of member. Do your homework Bill.
7/16/2009 11:09:40 AMNot True
Because this is an open forum, how can you be sure "Lisa" is a rank newbie? If he/she posted those comments under the name "EDD" would it have made a difference? There is ZERO validation of who anyone is here. For that matter a long term contributor such as "EDD" can post as a rank newbie as well, no?

If you'd do a bit of research (which you obviously haven't), it would be quite obvious from the knowledge level displayed by L.Basson that she is a beginner. Her asking the same basic question over & over should give you a clue too. Many members offered good suggestions - but I guess they weren't good enough!! In any event, she should not fuel a malignant malcontent's postings by agreeing with them.

SOrry guys...yes I did post same Q? twice and yes I am a beginner, I did not know that made me an outsider here, I am just looking for help as I am the only person I know in Needles california with this interest.
I stumbled into this, as I inheireted (sorry if spelled wrong as I am illiterate) a few radios and 100's of tubes. I fell in love with tubes and then radios.
I was just asking because I was trying to find a different way and at the time I was unaware of how to view JUNES posts.
WELL>>>>>>>>
I am sorry you are so disgusted in my ignorant posts but the bottom line is I have gained a wealth of info hewre and will continue to ask questions, no matter how aggravating they are to you. lol.
I am ignorant searching for knowledge from you , helpful pointers.......isnt that what this forum is based on??????

Lisa, I don't think that your lack of knowledge about radios fueled the negative posts so much as your chiming in on abusive posts toward a respected member here. As a newbie, it would probably serve you best to stick with radio-related issues and keep your naive opinions to yourself. Otherwise you'll find no one will take you seriously and you won't get the information you need.
7/20/2009 12:50:34 PMbecause you didnt use your real name here...
your opinion is fake and has no merit

according to peter anyways

7/20/2009 12:57:43 PMTo L Basson:
Lisa there is an alternative to help you in your search for knowledge about radios. You don't have to put with the impolite, immature behavior that's become too common in this forum. Register at ARF, if you're not already. People there know how to behave themselves. Here's the address: www.antiqueradios.com
7/20/2009 1:08:59 PMWHY DIDNT YOU USE YOUR NAME PETER???

Hi Lisa,
There are people who specialize in re-coning speakers. See the posts for "Philco 60 Repair.." dated October 12, 2006. It has valuable information there.

Best Regards,

Bill Grimm

Lisa,
On this site under "Resources, Tips and Training" there is an article that describes making paper cones. I've used it and it worked for me. You may need a small set of mechanical drafting tools, manual dexterity and good eyes. Other contibutors on this forum buy ready made paper cones, then cut and paste to fit their needs.
