Atwater speaker F-2 for model 55?
3/3/2001 9:27:58 PMArtJ
Can someone tell me if an Atwater F-2 speaker will work with a model 55 table model? I have a 55 that I've been trying to find a speaker for, only one I can find is F-2 which I understand was made for a 25 cycle rather than 60 cycle set.

Hi Art

Saw your post earlier but hesitated to reply. The Model F speakers are Electro-Dynamic and will work with AK Model 55. Not sure what is different about the F-2. The AK service info says it's the same as other F speakers except - Shipping container, stud spacer, speaker plug and 2 screws.

Some of the F series are self contained and others are for mounting in a cabinet.

Hi Norm,
thanks for the follow up on my question concerning the Atwater speaker. The info from the Atwater web site indicates the F-2 speaker to be a e.m. for use with model 55 that operated on 110 current at 25 cycles. It indicates the proper speaker for the same radio, operating on 110 current at 60 cycles to be an F-4. My sincere apologies if this is a stupid question,I am not trained in electronics and I just don't know if I'm reading this correctly or not and don't to invest in the speaker if it won't work or at least adapt to the radio I have.
thanks

Hello Art

I have a F-2 speaker connected to one of my Atwater 55's and it sounds great. It has lots of volume although maybe with a F-4 speaker, I have a little more volume. They both will hurt your eardrums if turned way up.

Hope this helps
