Motorola 52x 5 tuber need Schematics !!!
7/12/2009 2:26:01 PMJesse Hancock
Can anyone make any SUGGESTIONS? I have checked all resources and come up empty. On the cardboard back all it says is Motorola 52x. This is really a neat looking radio. I would love to hear it power up and play.. of course after replacing the power cord, electrolytics, and a resistor thats losing all of its coating..

I discovered by going to radioattic that my radio is a 52x13u.. but the schematic is still not listed.

Jesse,
The Schematic Bank has the schematic in DJVU format:

:HI! Jesse,
If you google (FREE MANUAL LINKS), click on the link, then click on (The Schematic Bank) ,and then click on (Go To Schematics) you will be able to access a free schematic for a model 52X13U under Motorola. If you search the site you will find they have both Rider's and Beitman's schematics available. Good Luck! Bob Masse

Ok, thanks for the information... BUT what program do you use to open these schematics.. I have nothing on my machine that will allow such a file to open...!

::I did a download of a viewer on laptop and on both my towers, and it comes up blank when trying to read anything. Just a blank page.. Well, maybe I can decode the resistor I need to replace by color codes on it?

:Thank you so much. This will help and of course it shows the value of the resistor thats cooked. Been playing with these radios for about 2 years, and Im still learning. You and everyone else was a great help.

Sir Jessee. . . .

I had also pulled up, converted and prepared that for you. . .but also had some mark-ups on it. . . plus . . . this was just the first time available to post it for you.

About the only low value resistors considred as being candidates for scorching / discoloring /opening up would include those that are marked up.
Candidate #1 for long time, gradual shift in its color code marking would be the inter filter 1K unit.

While, the 27 ohm unit from the rectifier cathode would be a " flamer" /cracked open . . . candidate.

Edd thanks for your help on this too. It actually makes it easier to look at whats here... and make the decision on what to replace. Whats odd is that you must be reading my mind. Yesterday I fired up the radio just to see if filiments lit, and they did, radio sounds great, even after I saw some some smoke come from the Resistor connected to the volume control. I turned off radio when smoke popped up.. I gotta get me a isolation transformer.
