Norm and Don, this is the set I asked about the dial
lamp voltages on, you were right they were 6.3v #47s.
They seem a little dim, but the voltages are good
throughout the circuits, so I guess it's o.k.
Thanks to anyone who can answer this embarassingly
dumb question.

: working, replaced the filter and all other caps and
: now it sounds great. Phono spins perfectly (with the
: normal clanking) but it needs a new needle. This is
: the Cobra head tone arm, AES has replacements. Now
: the dumb question, how the heck do you get the tone
: arm up far enough to access the needle. It only raises
: a few inches and as far as I can tell the two screws
: underneath adjust the balance and limit how high the
: arm raises when changing records. Do you remove this
: second screw to release the arm?

hi Scott, usually there is a clamp at the base of the
tone arm pivot..enabling you to remove the tone arm for such
repair. Remember when re-installing you may find that the
tone arm may not land on the starting groove. You will
have to possibly re-adjust the clamp a couple of times.
